Lighting

Lockcraft Electrical can carry out repairs and replacement of existing interior or exterior lighting systems. We also provide a full lighting design service on new lighting and emergency lighting systems for refurbishments or new build projects.

Emergency Lighting

When the normal lighting within an occupied commercial building fails, legislation indicates that secondary, emergency lighting is immediately and automatically provided to prevent panic and ensure safe, effective evacuation.

In addition to providing illumination of escape routes, it is also necessary to ensure all safety and firefighting equipment is adequately lit.

We can advise on and install a complete, certified emergency lighting system for any premises.

Energy Efficient Lighting

The replacement of existing, aging light fittings with more modern alternatives provide the following benefits:
1) Lower energy consumption, resulting in reduced running costs
2) Extended lamp/fitting life, resulting in reduced maintenance costs.

Possible solutions include the installation of Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) or T5 Linear fluorescent lamps (LFLs) which can use 75 to 80 percent less electricity than equivalent traditional lamps while being faster to light up and emitting good quality light. Alternatively, LEDs can offer an even longer lasting, lower wattage solution.

Lighting controls provide even further energy savings through the use of time clocks, occupancy sensors, daylight sensors and dimming controls to ensure lighting is only energised when required.

One example is the Bedford College re-lamping project, where over the 2010 Christmas break Lockcraft Electrical completely replaced their entire fluorescent lighting inventory with T5 fluorescent tubes, saving the college nearly 50% of their electrical lighting consumption, with a project payback of under 4 years.
