Thermal Imaging
Thermal imaging (Thermography) is a non-destructive, non-intrusive testing process used to display heat or infra-red radiation from equipment as an image.
The process is mainly used as a preventative maintenance tool to predict equipment failure by trend analysis of temperature.
All Thermal imaging results can be captured and compiled into a graphics based report.
Common Applications
- Identification of overheating bearings and gearbox assemblies.
- Monitoring of lagging and insulation condition.
- Identification of overloaded or loose fitting electrical cables.
- Identification of heat loss from chilled environments.
- Monitoring of electrical switchgear for loose connections and failing components.
Data Cabling
At Lockcraft we understand the importance of your structured wiring network and its place in your business. Your ICT strategy will vary with your company’s operations, but almost every business in the UK at present has some dependency on Information and Communications Technology. Whether it simply runs your accounts department, or is utilised to control complex manufacturing, warehousing and dispatch activities, it needs to be fully fit for purpose; that means well designed, installed and maintained. It also needs to be future proofed in such a manner that your company growth strategy isn’t impeded by lack of flexibility or connectivity to the outside world. We can cater for your ICT infrastructure, CCTV network, TV and sound systems, access control, corporate telephone system and much more.
Our fully qualified team is at hand to assist; from Cat5e to Fibre Optic Technology; from a simple comms. setup to a fully flexible structured cabling solution for a multi-million pound headquarters building or manufacturing facility. We can deliver at all stages, from inception, through implementation to upgrade and expansion.
And we will test and certify your installation upon completion so you are sure that your structured cabling facility will deliver the performance you demand, both now and into the future.
Mechanical Services
As part of what Lockcraft Engineering does, we cater for the electrical supply and controls for the mechanical services installed within buildings. All modern building design incorporates sophisticated control systems to maximise the energy consumed and ensure that unnecessary wastage is avoided. Our control systems are responsible for optimising the comfort and cost-effectiveness of these services. We are also able to control and monitor other services equipment such as, air conditioning, ventilation, waste disposal, boosted water systems and the like. In conjunction with our industry partners in the Mechanical services sector we offer a full range of support service.
Control Systems
Our core business when Lockcraft was founded, comprised designing, building, commissioning and installation of Control Systems, from simple single motor starters, to multi-motor control panels running complex types of manufacturing processes, incorporating solid state motor speed control, electricity generators, chiller plant and the like.
Today a large proportion of our output is still taken up with this activity. There are countless processes throughout the UK and beyond being controlled by Lockcraft built panels.
Fire Alarm Systems
All fire Alarm systems in the UK have to conform to BS5839 in order to satisfy current legislation. Specialist systems will require even higher standards of design, installation and maintenance. Our fully trained team are constantly being kept abreast of the latest requirements and changes to both the British Standards and available equipment.
We are able to offer full design, installation, testing, commissioning and certification services to the highest standards, and can offer call-out services if needed. We are conversant with many of the industry-specific protocols needed to look after third party equipment and can offer service packages designed to your specific requirements.
Electrical Design and Maintenance
As part of what we do at Lockcraft, the Electrical element of design is important, and needs to be considered in terms of overall functionality, including longevity of equipment and ease of maintenance. Our Electrical Design and Maintenance credentials speak for themselves; most of our clients are, we are proud to say, still with us after many years. From first installation we look after all aspects of your electrical equipment throughout its life. When change is required we are able to assess what is needed, what is the most cost-effective way to achieve your project outcomes, and implement the changes quickly, smoothly, and efficiently.

Lighting
With the advent of energy saving light sources, such as the new T5 fluorescent tubes, high intensity LED lightsources and the like, lighting installations are forming an ever greater source of energy saving. The new Part L of the Building Regulations demand ever more efficiency from new installations, and we are constantly updating our arsenal of lighting sources to keep abreast of this fast moving market.
We are proud to be able to quote the Bedford College re-lamping project, where over the Christmas 2010 break we completely replaced their entire fluorescent lighting inventory with T5 fluorescent tubes, saving them nearly 50% of their electrical lighting consumption, with a project payback of under 4 years.
Warehouse and workshop lighting re-fits have produced both energy saving and increased lighting levels, promoting a more pleasing working environment and a more safety-aware experience for both operatives and owners.
Decorative and retail lighting schemes, whilst not having the same accent on energy efficiency, are still targeting savings, whilst maintaining a high degree of visual acuity.
